What Harrisburg properties call us about

Harrisburg runs from the Riverfront and Front Street homes through Midtown, Uptown, Allison Hill, Bellevue Park, and out into Susquehanna Township, Colonial Park, Paxtang, and Penbrook. It's a mix of century-old city rowhomes and established suburban neighborhoods with mature trees — exactly the housing stock that produces the calls we get most:

  • Honey bee swarms landing on street trees, fences, and porches from late April through June
  • Established colonies in the chimneys, soffits, and wall voids of older Harrisburg rowhomes and pre-war houses
  • Bumble bee nests in mulch beds, under sheds, and in yard slopes across the suburbs
  • Neighbors who want the bees gone but not killed — and are relieved to learn there's a beekeeper in the city who relocates them
  • Wasp / hornet ID calls in late summer (handled by sister LPP at the same number)

Not sure what you're seeing? Send a photo to 717-379-3248 — we identify honey bees vs. bumble bees vs. wasps vs. hornets for free, then route the call to whichever side of the family handles it.

Why call a beekeeper

We relocate honey bees alive

Honey bees are pollinators worth protecting, so a colony we remove doesn't get killed — it gets relocated. We use bee vacuums that collect the bees alive, save and reuse comb where possible, and the colony goes into one of our hives right here in the Harrisburg area. For honey bees, that's almost always a better outcome than a can of spray.

Wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets are a different situation — they're not savable pollinators, and there the right answer is licensed control, not relocation. That's exactly what our sister company Lawns Plants & Pests LLC is for, at the same number, 717-379-3248. One call covers both: honey bees relocated alive, wasps and hornets handled by the licensed crew.
